1 I waited patiently for the Lord, and he inclined to me, and heard my cry.

2 He brought me out of a horrible lake, out of a miry pool, he set my feet on a rock, he steadied my steps.

3 He has put a new song in my mouth, a hymn to our God; many will see it, and fear, and will trust in the Lord.

4 Blessed is the man who puts his trust in the Lord, and does not respect the proud, nor those who turn aside to lies.

5 Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have worked for us, and your thoughts cannot be numbered before you; if I would declare them and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

6 Sacrifice and offering thou hast not desired; mine ears hast thou opened; burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

7 Then said he, Behold, I come; in the roll of the book of me it is written.

8 I delight to do your will, O my God; yes, your law is within my heart.

9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation; behold, I have not withheld my lips, O Lord, you know it.

10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have proclaimed thy faithfulness and thy salvation; I have not hid thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

11 Take not away thy tender mercies from me, O Lord; let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12 For evils without number have compassed me about; mine iniquities have overtaken me, so that I cannot look up. They are more than the hairs of my head; so my heart faileth.

13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me.

14 Let them be put to shame and confounded who seek my life to destroy it; let them be turned back and put to shame who wish me harm.

15. let them be desolate in return for their affront who say to me, "Ah! Ah!

16 Let those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; let those who love your salvation say continually, "The Lord be magnified.

17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord takes care of me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not hold back, O my God.
